These solid rosewood chessmen have been beautifully crafted with contrasting colours decorating each side.

The Antipodean series chessmen in rosewood are a truly unique take on the classic Staunton design, honouring the same distinctive features but with an artisan's touch.

The knight is a particularly special design, not overly ornate but elegant with a delicately carved, friendly facial expression.

Our partner craftsmen were inspired by the idea that in chess, while there is an enemy, the toughest opponent can often be yourself. And, to have both sides carrying the same colours is an excellent representation of this. The fact that one colour is provided by the expressive grains of exotic rosewood represents something else entirely: luxury.

In terms of material quality, each piece has been expertly polished, triple-weighted and felted on the base. These measures ensure that these juxtaposed chess pieces will never need replacing.
