These cufflinks are handcrafted from genuine circulated Buffalo nickels—one showing the iconic Native American profile, the other the rugged American bison. First minted in 1913 and struck through 1938, the Buffalo nickel (also known as the Indian Head nickel) was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser and remains one of the most beloved coin designs in U.S. history.
Each coin is made of 75% copper and 25% nickel, giving it a distinct silvery appearance with warm undertones from years of use. The Native American side features a composite profile based on three different individuals, while the reverse showcases a powerful, standing buffalo—modeled after "Black Diamond," a resident of the Central Park Zoo.
These cufflinks are professionally soldered (never glued) and finished to highlight the detail and patina of the original coins. The year on each coin will vary based on availability, but all are authentic Buffalo nickels from 1913–1938.
