Golden Pheasant is of the order Galliformes, family Phasianidae. Their natural habitats are bamboo forests and groves in the remote highlands of China and Myanmar.

The feathers are red and metallic yellow in color, with brownish tail feathers with a reticulated pattern.

Despite its flamboyant appearance, the Golden Pheasant is cautious and skillful at hiding, and is said to be difficult to spot in the field, even in its native habitat.
