Designed and hand-inlaid in Italy, this dark grey burl chessboard is a work of art. Finished in a very high-gloss lacquer, the wood grain and knotting of the burl has an amazing depth. The inlaid veneer squares are bordered with a thin veneer of ebony that sections off the playing area from the edge.

The underside of the board features a lacquered wooden veneer and has felting pads to protect the surfaces underneath. The deep monochrome colour of this board looks very contemporary and would best suit either brass, ebony or rosewood pieces with a king height of approximately 7.6 cm.
