The title Zebrave emerged from a vivid dream—an image of a Native American brave astride a zebra. In the dream, the zebra’s black-and-white stripes echoed across the ground, continuing up through the brave’s leg and into the war shield he carried. The lines seemed to bind figure and landscape into a single visual language of strength and surreal beauty.

The image lingered with Gilleon. He had never encountered a depiction of a Native American on a zebra before, and the fact that such a powerful, symbolic vision emerged from his subconscious gave it deep personal resonance.
