Built from a mid-century stainless steel Fyr-Fyter Soda-Lite 500, No. 17-4 fire extinguisher (circa late 1950s–early 60s), this piece of vintage safety equipment has traded pressure for presence. Fully cleaned, emptied, and reimagined, instead of turning it upside down to use, now you just turn a knob.

It features all silver-toned hardware with a black cloth-covered cord that stretches nearly 8 feet, so it goes wherever the vibe demands. The built-in dimmer switch lets you dial in just the right glow, so you can go from “cozy mood lighting” to “I lost my glasses again” with a twist. And because we’re not savages, the base is fitted with real cork to protect your furniture from both scratches and scorch marks (past or present).

The included shade is a thrifted modern drum wrapped in a crisp blue geometric lattice—equal parts retro and futuristic, like a space station built by the Jetsons. It plays beautifully with the cool steel base, while the blue glass flame-shaped finial on top is a cheeky wink at the extinguisher’s previous life.
