BIO:
I have been involved in the development of the Jamaican Animation Industry for the past 11 years. In 2013, I started working as an animator at Alcyone Animation Studios, where I created animations for the popular series Cabbie Chronicles and the hilarious “Ikat” Commercials. In addition, I was one of the first animation instructors for the Heart NSTA Trust, teaching Digital Animation Levels 1, 2 and 3.
In 2014, I was hired as the Animation Specialist for the Government of Jamaica, where I coordinated a number of initiatives funding by the Government and World Bank to kickstart an animation industry in Jamaica. Amongst these inititiaves was the KingstOOn Animation Festival, which attracted the participation of over 7,000 attendees from 100 countries in the conferences, panel discussions, competitions and a film festival. I also organized animation Train The Trainer (TTT) programmes to strengthen the skills of animation instructors at secondary and tertiary institutions. I planned business development initiatives in collaboration with JAMPRO. These initiatives included preparation and attendance to major tradeshows such as Kidscreen and MIPCOM, where local film makers and animation studios had the opportunity to build their professional networks and identify business opportunities.
After the 7 year project ended, in 2021, I became the Head of Department the Associate Degree in Animation at the Vocational Training Development Institutue (VTDI), where I currently manage the programme, as well as training tertiarty level students in animation.
I am also the Founder and Managing Director of Imaginetoon Animation Studio, where I manage a local team of talented animators and illustrators to produce 2D vector based animation for both local and international clients.
I am a member and musician at the New Town Baptist Church. In my free time I enjoy fishing, reading, playing video games, excercising and spending time with family and friends.
